Outlaw Nation
Evenings on Merle FM

Every night – 7 PM - 12 Midnight

Outlaw Nation is the premier show for REAL Country Music, sprinkled with the best of Texas Red Dirt, Bluegrass, and modern and classic Southern Rock. Merle FM is proud to offer a show that goes beyond playing the same top hick-hop country songs.

Outlaw Nation was born in the summer of 2013, in the smoky honky-tonks of Myrtle Beach, amidst the crowded tourist season. Bar owners, disgusted with the goofy teen pop music being released as “country” today, longed for the times when the epicenter of the genre was Nashville, not Hollywood. We were tasked with creating “Southern Music for Southern People“: Traditional sounding, but current, relevant, and rockin’! REAL Country Music, sprinkled with the best of Texas Red Dirt, Bluegrass, and modern and classic Southern Rock. In a few short months, word quickly spread across the South. And today, Outlaw Nation is proudly carried in many of the finest country bars and western saloons in America. Southern Rock, REAL Country, Free and Commercial Free, in dynamic High Definition Audio.

David Aldrich
Chief Meteorologist/Captain Accurate

Daily Weather Forecasts on Merle FM

Whether your getting ready for your commute or planning a night out, David's forecasts are always spot-on. It ain't easy being accurate.

David Aldrich moved to Knoxville in May of 2010 to serve the people of East Tennessee. As a trained meteorologist, David knows the value of delivering an accurate forecast and enjoys the challenge each and every day. He was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, but traveled south to attend college. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology from North Carolina State University in 1999, David began his television career in Raleigh, NC at WNCN, then Huntington-Charleston, WV at WSAZ, followed by four years in Rochester, NY and lake effect snow country at WHAM. Next up, David got to return to his hometown by working at the fourth largest television market in the country: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There, he worked as the Weekend Meteorologist for four years at WTXF (Fox 29) and forecasted & produced the weather in the mornings for "Good Day Philadelphia." David Aldrich was then hired to serve as the Chief Meteorologist for WVLT in Knoxville from 2010 to 2019. That's where a nickname soon emerged: "Captain Accurate" David Aldrich also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio, Television & Motion Pictures from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. David has earned the distinction of becoming a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM AMS) #166 with the American Meteorological Society...and has his Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association (NWA). David and his wife Stephanie have two daughters, a cat, a chinchilla and a dog named Dew Point ("Dewey"). David and his family love to explore all that East Tennessee has to offer.
